Experience Sunsets at Cradle Mountain, Tasmania - Book Your Evening View

Summary: Such a unique and educational experience. We were lucky enough to pat a quoll and tassie devil, then see some wombats being raised to go back into the wild.

Summary: An excellent visit from start to finish. Arriving a little early we were invited to look around whilst waiting for tour to start. When everyone was gathered the sanctuary guy (wish I could remember his name) introduced the sanctuary’s ethos whilst we sampled local fudge and biscuits and a drink of our choice. He explained in an interesting way what has happened to the devils since Europeans came to the island and introduced sheep. He was very knowledgeable, explained clearly in detail and interacted well with our small group of children and adults. Thanks to the work of the various sanctuaries in Tasmania their numbers are improving. We were shown round the sanctuary , seeing devils and quolls and were able to gently stroke a hand reared devil. A truly memorable experience and thoroughly recommended.

Summary: Wonderful experience for whole family from 84 year old to 5 year old. Our tour guide was so informative and friendly, and we had excellent views of the devils and various quolls. Feeding was terrific, 5 year old specially enjoyed the growling! Toasting marshmallows at the end was a nice touch. 84 year old with walking frame easily managed the tour.

Summary: We went to the sunset tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our tour guide Rory was very good and gave us a lot of information about devils and quolls. The drinks and sweets were nice but the animals are definitely the stars. It is a nice way to spend some time in the sanctuary with only few people, a guide who is very knowledgeable, to see the quolls and devils active after dark and being fed, and to see and pet a baby devil. At the end of the tour we had a little campfire while watching two devils munching on a wallaby leg. Also, a big bonus is you can visit the sanctuary any time during the day when you have booked the evening tour.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunset Experience with Devils at Cradle. It's a small group and you are provided with wine, beer and other refreshments which is a nice treat! We enjoyed learning from our very knowledgeable tour guide all about their purpose in saving the extinction of the Tasmanian Devils. We even got to pet one these furry creatures. Watching their "dinner time" is quite an experience (not necessarily for the faint of heart). Totally worth the visit!

Summary: This is hands down one of the best experiences on our Tasmanian holiday. The sunset experience was not only informative with a knowledgeable keeper but provided brilliant interactions with the Devils. We loved it so much we returned the following day and spoke at length with another keeper about Quolls. You absolutely must put this on your list of things to do when you visit Cradle Mountain and please spend money there - it's going to a very good cause!

Summary: This was our second visit, the first being some 15 years ago, and this was better. The sunset tour starts with a class of wine and some local treats which is a nice start but the animals are the stars. Our guide knew a lot about the animals and it is great to see that so much more is now known about the cause of the facial tumours and that a vaccination for this iconic species is close. The tour introduces you to the devils as well as two species of quoll, another interesting animal. It then takes you to places not usually visited finishing with a feeding at the back of the site, which was accompanied by the screeching that gave them their name as well as a range of other noises as the animal communicated with each other. Despite their name, the animals are quite shy, tend to keep to themselves but will share food with one another, provided they get some too! It was great to see some of their natural behaviours and get up close with a juvenile. To get the most of your visit, we’d recommend the late-in-the-day tours when the animals are waking up and active. Really informative and worth the effort. We would certainly visit again to spend time with these Tasmanian mascots.

Summary: Booked the sunset experience & were not disappointed. Our guide, Prue was knowledgeable & happy for us to ask questions. We were a small group, so it was relaxed & friendly. Glass of wine during the introductory talk was a nice touch. Walk thru the park with guide & access to area’s normally off limits was great. Learnt so much about these endangered animals (devils & quolls) & the work this organisation does to help rescue & protect them. Saw a wild wallaby & wombat right out front in carpark before we even walked thru the doors & a free roaming pademelon within the park area. Finished the evening with a dessert platter. Really enjoyable experience. An important organisation to support.

Summary: We had a great time, we got to experience the sight of Devils feeding and even got to pat a baby devil who was totally gorgeous. Our guide was passionate and knowledgeable and her love for caring and protecting the devils and Quokkas in her care and in the wild was inspiring! The sweet treats, beverages and toasted marshmallows was a lovely addition!
